| No doubt! Salah best striker in the world – Lovren

Cape Town – Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren believes that forward Mohamed Salah is the best striker in the world at the moment.

The Egyptian, who signed to join the English Premiership giants from Roma in 2017, has racked up 44 goals in all competitions.

The 25-year-old is four goals shy of breaking Liverpool‘s long standing record of 47 goals set by club legend Ian Rush.

In an interview with CNN World Sport, Lovren compared Salah to Barcelona‘s Lionel Messi.

“I would say he is more similar to Messi,” said Lovren, ahead of Liverpool‘s Champions League final clash against La Liga outfit Real Madrid on Saturday.

“He knows when is the right time and the right moment to accelerate or to speed the game up.

“He‘s shown that he fits in this team perfectly, he‘s had an amazing season and he‘s now, not without reason, the best striker in the world with 44 goals. He‘s one of the top three at the moment.”

Salah has a chance to break the record as Liverpool have one last match before their season commences.

The Madrid clash in Ukraine, Kiev will be an evening of history as both clubs have a lot on the line.

Madrid have the chance to win their third consecutive title while Liverpool can win their sixth crown.

“It’s Real Madrid… Its three times in a row in the final, and we need to respect that,” Lovren continued.

“They have the confidence, they have the experience and they know how to play these finals. From our team, it will be our first final in the Champions League, but we are healthy, we are young and we are ready to fight.”

Kick-off is at 20:45 (SA time).
